Baba Gül, Father of the Roses

I love going to places and following small hinters, almost invisible to the eye. In Budapest, something about the sense of the sight of certain towers and hidden in the alphabet, the letters on shops and in windows. A Turkish influence of sorts that I did not know much about.

It took us to the Tomb of Baba Gül. Also called Father of the Roses. A dervish, a muslim mystic that lived a life of devotion and friendship and now is a symbol of friendship among Turkey and Hungary.

How unexpected to hike the Rose Hill as sun was setting and looking in through the windows of the mausoleum to see beautiful calligraphy, gold on black, and this quiet resting place of Baba Gül.

A peek into the mysticism of Islam in the heart of Hungary, touching and being touched by the amazing mysticism traditions of the world, the practices of entering the heart and living from a place of friendship and devotion.
